According to him, the OSCE was originally created as a structure designed to unite a divided Europe, but then the vector of its activities changed.

“The whole organization specialized in the relationship of what is called the two worlds.

But after the end of the Cold War, the issue hung up, because the OSCE seemed to have nothing to do.

And then another vector began.

This is the Georgian-Ossetian war in 2008, this is the crisis in Ukraine in 2014, where the OSCE was involved,” the expert explained.

He noted that the OSCE, as a structure, "survives" only in the conflict between East and West.

“There is a discussion in Russia on this topic, to stay or not to stay in the OSCE.

Because we do not see the support of Russia and peacekeeping, we see the intelligence of the West ... If Russia leaves the OSCE, then the organization becomes unnecessary.

It will just fall apart and disappear.

So this issue is very acute for them.

In fact, it is a matter of survival for a relatively large structure employing thousands of people.

Therefore, one should not expect that they want dialogue, lowering the threshold of conflict and eliminating the conflict in Ukraine, ”RT’s interlocutor is sure.

Earlier, OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid spoke out against the exclusion of Russia from the organization.
