A 64-year-old man managed to get his car into the hall of the gallery of a shopping center in Chambourcy (Yvelines), Friday, in the middle of the day.

The driver carried out a maneuver to pass his Opel Corsa between the studs protecting the entrance to the place, says

.

He then drove a distance of about 100 meters.

When the motorist arrived near the security PC, an agent cut the contact of the car, stopping his progress.

None of the customers present in the shopping arcade of the Carrefour store was injured by the vehicle, which was moving at low speed.

The 60-year-old spoke of difficulties concerning a cart with which he could not enter, said a witness.

A police source spoke of the motorist's altered mental faculties.

She also explained that, on his way, the driver thanked the pedestrians deviating to let him pass.

The motorist was arrested and placed in police custody for acts of "endangering the lives of others" and "damage to property".
