Saturday around 6 a.m., a person broke into the La Rochelle Mireuil barracks to steal a fire ambulance.
The theft was quickly reported to the national police.
With the help of firefighters and witnesses, the thief was apprehended while he was parked "on the outskirts of the La Rochelle agglomeration".
A complaint has been filed by the SDIS which recalls that this kind of facts hinders the work of relief for the benefit of the population.
The ambulance has been degraded and will be unavailable while repairs are being made.
No injuries are to be deplored in this case.
