The Ukrainians celebrated Orthodox Christmas on Saturday in the middle of the war and the 36-hour truce announced without convincing by Vladimir Putin is now over without the hostilities having really ceased.
The ceasefire, decreed by Moscow from Friday noon, ended at midnight Saturday, Ukraine accusing the Russian army of not having respected it, and Russia in return accusing the Ukrainians of preventing the app by forcing it to fight back.
The United States on Friday promised a massive new military aid of three billion dollars to Ukraine.
This announcement followed that of Germany, which indicated that it would send 40 "Marder" armored vehicles in the first quarter, following in the footsteps of France, which announced an upcoming delivery of AMX-10 RC light combat tanks.

In Ukraine, hundreds of worshipers attended a historic liturgy at the famous Caves Lavra monastery in kyiv on Saturday.

Ukraine and Russia celebrated the Orthodox Christmas holiday on Saturday.
On the Russian side, Vladimir Putin attended a religious service alone in a Kremlin church at midnight on Friday, departing from his habit of attending the liturgy in public, in the provinces or on the outskirts of Moscow.
In a message released Saturday by the Kremlin, he sent his congratulations to Orthodox Christians.
Church organizations "support our soldiers" fighting in Ukraine, the Russian president said.
8:15 am: Zelensky criticizes the “alleged ceasefire”
Volodymyr Zelensky made a point of criticizing the 36-hour truce initiated by the Kremlin on Saturday.
“The world was able to see once again today how untruthful all the words spoken at the highest level in Moscow are,” the Ukrainian president said in a video message released on Saturday evening.
“They talked about a so-called ceasefire… but the reality is that Russian shells continued to hit Bakhmout and other Ukrainian positions,” he added, insisting that the only solution was “the expulsion of Russian occupiers from Ukrainian lands”.
