The requirement for a negative covid test for travelers from China applies for the next three weeks.

The requirement applies to adults and children over the age of 12, but not to Swedish citizens.

China is currently experiencing one of the largest outbreaks of covid-19 since the pandemic began.

Just since January 1 this year, the country has reported 648 covid-related deaths, and 218,019 confirmed infections, says the World Health Organization (WHO), Reuters reports.

Yesterday there was a call from the EU to all member states to introduce covid test requirements for all travelers from China.

Something that some countries outside the EU have already done, or are planning to do.

From the Chinese side, the countries' actions have been criticized.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers it unacceptable and says that the country may "take countermeasures".
