Moscow: An act of sabotage behind the gas pipeline explosion in Luhansk

Authorities in the Russian-controlled region believe that an act of sabotage was the reason behind the gas pipeline explosion in Luhansk, eastern Ukraine.

Civil authorities said on Sunday that the bombing of a natural gas pipeline with a diameter of 300 mm at a river crossing cut off supplies to 13,315 customers in nine towns and villages.

The authorities added that the temperatures in the area are currently below freezing.

The explosion occurred late on Saturday evening.

The firefighting teams were unable to put out the fire caused by the explosion until early Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported.
