China opened its borders starting today, Sunday, 3 years after the restrictions it imposed due to the Corona pandemic, coinciding with preparations to celebrate the Lunar New Year, according to the Chinese calendar.

According to the new decision, international flights to Beijing will not have to enter through the points that were previously specified, but those coming to China must show a negative test for the Corona virus within two days before the arrival date.

The Chinese National Health Commission said that it will transfer the disease from category (A) to category (B), which means that "Covid-19" requires only the necessary treatment and measures to contain the spread.

The committee stated - in a statement - that it had renamed "Covid-19" from "pneumonia caused by the new corona virus" to "new corona virus infection."

And the Chinese authorities announced on the 26th of last month their intention to open the country’s borders and abandon the quarantine requirement, starting today, Sunday.

The world's most populous country abandoned its strict "zero Covid" policy last month, in the wake of unprecedented unrest and protests in parts of the country.

Starting Sunday, China will also abandon the imposition of quarantine on those coming into the country and coronavirus patients, in line with health laws.

Since March 2020, anyone entering China has had to undergo mandatory quarantine in a government facility, for up to 3 weeks at a time, and this was recently reduced to 5 days.
