He spent the end-of-year holidays in captivity.

It's been 21 months, this Sunday, that Olivier Dubois has been held hostage in the confines of northern Mali.

Pending happy news, RFI opens its antenna every month on the 8th of the month to the family of Olivier Dubois, who confirmed in the last video broadcast by his kidnappers, last March, that he could hear these messages from comfort where he was.

The French journalist, who works for

Liberation

,

Jeune Afrique

and

Le Point

, among others, was kidnapped on April 8, 2021 while reporting in Gao, in northern Mali.

Since then, Olivier Dubois has been held captive by the Jnim, the Support Group for Islam and Muslims led by Iyad Ag Ghaly and linked to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

The Malian transitional authorities and the French authorities claim to be working for his release.

Like every 8th of the month on RFI, his relatives send him messages of support:

André-Georges and Valérye Dubois, the father and one of the sisters of Olivier Dubois

Mother of Olivier Dubois

Déborah Al Hawi Al Masri, the mother of Olivier Dubois' children.

His children go to their father, too.

A thought also for Moussa M'Bana Dicko, a Malian journalist also held hostage, after being kidnapped on April 18, 2021 in central Mali.

And for all the hostages held in Mali or elsewhere in the world.
