“Despite the artillery shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”: the Defense Ministry announced its intention to continue observing the ceasefire

Along the entire line of contact, a ceasefire is observed by the Russian military, despite the fact that representatives of the Kyiv regime have continued shelling settlements and Russian positions over the past day.

“Despite the artillery shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on settlements and Russian positions, the implementation of the declared ceasefire will be continued by the Russian group of troops (forces) until 24:00 today,” said Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

According to him, in the Krasno-Limansky direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out 11 mortar attacks on Russian positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian troops used artillery 51 times in the direction of units of the Russian Armed Forces in the Soledarsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky directions, 31 times in the Zaporozhye region, and 17 times in the Kherson and Krivoy Rog directions.

“Ukrainian troops fired more than 60 large-caliber shells into the residential areas of the city of Donetsk, and the settlement of Makiivka of the Donetsk People’s Republic was hit by American rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system,” the official representative of the Defense Ministry said.

He stressed that the Russian troops suppressed all the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from which the shelling was carried out with return fire.

The day before, the defense department stated that the Ukrainian armed formations continued shelling settlements and positions of Russian troops, despite the observance of the ceasefire by the Russian Armed Forces.

In accordance with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the troops were previously ordered to cease fire along the entire line of contact between the parties in Ukraine for 36 hours from 12:00 on January 6.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, rejected Moscow's offer to establish a Christmas truce.

So, in the Kupyansky direction in the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe village of Sinkovka, Kharkiv region, over the past day, Russian troops repelled an attack by units of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“More than 20 Ukrainian servicemen, a tank, a Grad MLRS combat vehicle and two vehicles were destroyed by return fire,” said Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

In the Krasno-Limansky direction in the area of ​​​​Serebryansky forestry, the attack was made by two assault groups of the 80th and 95th air assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Their losses are over 30 servicemen, two D-20 howitzers, an armored combat vehicle and a pickup truck.

In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces thwarted an attempt by units of the 110th mechanized and 79th air assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack in the areas of the settlements of Krasnogorovka and Georgievka (DPR).

Enemy losses amounted to 50 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded, a tank and a car.

A counterattack by units of the 108th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Novomayorsk region (DPR) was suppressed in the South Donetsk direction.

More than 20 Ukrainian servicemen, two D-30 howitzers, an armored personnel carrier and two pickup trucks were destroyed by return fire.

In addition, air defense systems destroyed four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the areas of the settlements of Ilchenkovo, Zaporozhye region and Genichesk, Kherson region, during the day.

“In addition, five missiles of the Uragan and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, as well as a US-made HARM anti-radar missile were intercepted in the areas of the settlements of Makeevka, Guselskoe of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Ocherevatoye of the Zaporozhye region,” the representative of the Russian Defense Ministry concluded.
