The Jordanian security forces were able to uncover the circumstances of a murder that remained unknown for 35 years, in which a worker of an Arab nationality was killed.

The media spokesman for the Jordanian Public Security Directorate said that one of the investigation teams in the Criminal Investigation Department assigned to reopen the files of unknown cases was able to complete the investigation in one of those cases that were committed in 1987, and the perpetrator remained unknown.

The case - which constituted a mystery - is due to the finding of the body of an Egyptian young man working in Jordan, who was killed, after being shot with two bullets, at his workplace, as a guard in a building under construction, north of the capital, Amman.

The media spokesman confirmed that the investigation teams in the Criminal Investigation Department, which were formed to follow up the files of all unknown cases, especially with regard to murder cases, reopened the file of this case.

The teams made continuous efforts and collected information about the case and studied its circumstances when it occurred, so that all this led them to new information that limited the suspicion of a person who was working in the same building.

The media spokesman indicated that the suspect was searched for and arrested.

And by expanding the investigation with him, he confessed to having committed the crime, and that 35 years ago he was working in a building under construction and that he had gone at night with the aim of stealing construction equipment and materials.

While he was stealing, the guard - who had only been in Jordan for a week - woke up and tried to stop him, but the perpetrator confronted the guard with gunshots, and hit him with two bullets in the head, which led to his immediate death, and then proceeded to steal the bags of cement.

The information indicates that the thief was arrested at the time, but he confessed to the theft and did not confess to committing the murder.

After revealing these circumstances, the case was referred to the Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court, who decided to detain him in a correctional and rehabilitation center on charges of premeditated murder.
