According to RIA Novosti, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy Ben Harris will pay visits to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland between January 8 and 13 to meet with officials.

At the same time, Elisabeth Rosenberg, assistant to the head of the Ministry of Finance for combating the financing of terrorism and financial crimes, will meet with colleagues from the EU in Brussels.

During numerous meetings, US officials will discuss coordinating with allies on economic sanctions against Russia, in particular, efforts aimed at depriving Moscow of the income needed to conduct a special operation in Ukraine.

The G7 countries have previously announced their intention to increase economic pressure on Russia, as well as on those countries that "bypass restrictive measures."

In October, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced her intention to appoint a special representative for sanctions in the EU.

Bloomberg reported that the US Treasury has posted a vacancy for an international observer economist to analyze the possible effects of sanctions on American business.
