Peruvian prosecutors investigate President Boluarte's crackdown on protests

"The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Nation has organized pre-trial proceedings against the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, Alberto Otarola, who served as Minister of Defense, Cesar Cervantes, former Minister of the Interior, and others," the statement said.

It is clarified that the complaints are aimed at investigating the deaths that occurred during the demonstrations that took place in December 2022.

On December 16, it was reported that the death toll during the protests that began after the impeachment of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo and his detention increased to 20.
