The German Federal Center for Nutrition said that the risk of children developing celiac disease increases if a first-degree relative has it.

The center explained that celiac disease is a chronic autoimmune disease of the small intestine, and is due to intolerance to gluten found in grains such as wheat, which results in inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the small intestine.

The center added that the first symptoms of the disease often appear 3 to 6 months after the child starts eating whole grains, bread or rusks, and these symptoms are:

  • abdominal pain

  • Anorexia.

  • bloating

  • Feeling tired and tired.

The center warned of the seriousness of celiac disease in children.

Where it leads to growth disorders such as weight loss and short stature.

To avoid the troubles of celiac disease, children have to follow a strict diet throughout their lives, forgoing pills.
