“It is urgent to suspend it!

A petition which has collected more than 13,000 signatures in twenty-four hours calls for the suspension of Parisian gynecologist Emile Daraï, indicted in November for intentional violence against 32 women.

Placed under judicial supervision, Emile Daraï has been withdrawn from his responsibilities as head of department and head of education, and he is prohibited from carrying out private consultations, but he continues his public consultations.

The petition, launched by the collective Stop aux Violences Obstetricales et Gynecologiques, denounces "the incomprehensible inaction of health institutions and politicians" and calls for the "total suspension" of the professor while the legal proceedings are ongoing "in order to guarantee the safety of all the patients”.

190 testimonies of violence

The collective claims to have received since the beginning of the case 190 testimonies of violence.

“The digital rectal examination was extremely violent.

I remember being in a trance the whole way back.

On the subway platform, for the first time in my life, I felt like throwing myself under the train.

The tears were flowing on their own…” recounts a patient quoted in the petition.

On December 15, the Council of Paris made a wish asking for the suspension of the gynecologist, but the supervisory board of the public assistance-Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) "refused" the request according to France Info.
