To mark Epiphany 2023, the Lyon pastry shop Flochon has decided to offer a nice gift to one of its customers.

In one of its 8,000 cakes produced in January, slipped a bean in the shape of a four-leaf clover.

Highly symbolic, the latter will earn almost 1,000 euros for its owner.

For a client of the Flochon bakery in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, Epiphany 2023 will be like a second Christmas.

For this year, a special gift slipped into one of the galettes des rois.

If customers usually come to get one of the most famous galettes in the city for its finesse, its golden color and slightly caramelized with a little chestnut syrup, the bean attracts all the attention.

"If you are lucky, you will find a bean in the shape of a clover with the inscription 'winner' on it. And this work, it allows you to win a diamond worth 980 euros", explains Marine Flochon , the pastry chef.

But how to offer such a gift when the pastry chef is faced with the explosion of her energy bill?

"It's simple, we don't buy the diamond," she explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

For this year 2023, a special gift has slipped into the galette des rois from the Flochon pastry.

Make your customers happy

“It is in fact the Lyonnais jeweler Celinni, who provides it to us free of charge. It allows him to have a little more visibility in the region. would not have been possible", so the bakery accepted, explains Marine Flochon.

There will therefore soon be, despite the crisis, a very happy customer among the buyers of the 8,000 cakes that are manufactured throughout the month of January at Flochon.
