A 20-year-old man appeared on Wednesday before the judicial court of Evry-Courcouronnes (Essonne).

He had been arrested two days earlier, when he had just been released from prison.

The young man had been on probation for barely a quarter of an hour.

He then went to a car garage to test drive a vehicle, which he finally used to flee, reports Actu Essonne.

He had left his driver's license and identity card in the garage.

In court, the defendant claimed to be autistic, bipolar and suicidal, indicate our colleagues.

He allegedly attempted to end his life seven times between August 2022 and January 2023, while he was detained.

He has, this time, asked to go to the hospital rather than to detention.

A psychiatric expertise requested

But during the trial, the public prosecutor noted the many wrongdoings committed by the young man, in particular scams carried out all over the world.

The court requested psychiatric expertise and time to notify all victims of the proceedings.

The young man was, pending the verdict, placed in pre-trial detention with a warrant of committal.
