Melnik argued that Berlin's promise to send the Marder infantry fighting vehicle to Kyiv should be only the "first violation of the taboo" by Germany, and called for the immediate delivery of other combat systems to Ukraine.

“We are talking about all available heavy weapons, such as battle tanks, fighters, combat drones, warships, submarines, ballistic missiles,” he said.

Earlier, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said that the first Marder infantry fighting vehicles promised to Ukraine would be ready for transfer in the first quarter of 2023.

The German Cabinet also announced that Germany would send Ukraine an additional Patriot battery.
