The former King of Greece Constantine II, 83, has been admitted to

a hospital in Athens

again and, according to the Greek media, he is in critical condition.

Constantine II, brother of Doña Sofía and last king of Greece, is in the private hospital "Iguía" in the Greek capital.

According to some local media, the former king has been hospitalized due to complications caused by the coronavirus and was previously in

the "Attikon" hospital

infected with this virus, while other publications indicate that he has suffered a stroke.

The former monarch's office told EFE that Constantine II is hospitalized, but did not confirm other details about his state of health and stressed that "it is a hospitalization like all the others in recent years."

Constantine II's health has been fragile for years.

In January 2022 he had been admitted to an Athens hospital after contracting

coronavirus

and a month earlier he had been hospitalized with

pneumonia.

According to ERT public television, the former king is in the ICU of the "Iguía" hospital although he is not intubated.

Constantine II had moved with his wife, Ana Maria, from the Peloponnese town of Porto Jeli to Athens last spring in order to be close to the hospital and the doctors who monitor his health.
