80 have applied, but only four will be commissioned to sing opera in Eskilstuna this summer.

Auditions will take place continuously over three days and Andrea Hagman, artistic director of Eskilstuna summer opera, thinks it is important that opera singers in Sweden are given the opportunity to show what they are made of.

- You want to come, you want to show off.

Not all opera houses have auditions, which we think is super important.

It is time to change opera Sweden, says Andrea Hagman.

Secret Eskilstuna profile

As for the performances themselves this summer, they are supposed to start at the beginning of August and partly it will be "Amelia goes to the ball", an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti, who may invite a secret guest.

- I am not going to reveal who now, but if we get what we want, it will be an Eskilstuna profile who will be there, who is not doing opera, says Andrea Hagman.

The second performance will be "Sister Angelica" by Giacomo Puccini in collaboration with Klosters church and organist Mila Thoors.

- It is the first time that we get to collaborate with Eskilstuna summer opera in this way.

It is not often that operas are staged in churches.

It feels great fun, says Mila Thoors.

In the clip, you hear applicant Cassandra Rosenqvist sing opera and Andrea Hagman about the record interest.
