“Russia Temporary Ceasefire” 36-Hour Sustainability Unclear

Russian President Putin ordered a ceasefire for 36 hours until 6:00 am Japan time on the 7th, which coincides with the Russian Orthodox Christmas, and the Russian army entered a ceasefire.

However, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President Tymoshenko and others posted on social media that just before the ceasefire period, hospitals and houses in eastern Donetsk Oblast were shelled by Russian forces, resulting in many injuries. An air defense alert was issued for all of Ukraine, including Kyiv.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that Ukrainians attacked Donetsk and other areas during the ceasefire period.

The pro-Russian leader has warned that any attempt by Ukraine to violate the ceasefire will be dealt with immediately, and it is unclear whether the unilateral ceasefire will be maintained.

U.S. think tank ``The aim is to secure time for soldiers to rest before the attack resumes''

The US think tank "War Research Institute" analyzes that Russia's sudden announcement of a temporary ceasefire is intended to secure time for soldiers to rest before resuming attacks on the front lines.

In addition, it shows the view that it is an information operation on the Russian side, saying, ``It seems that the Ukrainian army, which continues to fight during the ceasefire period, has no intention of making efforts toward peace.''
