GM = General Motors, America's largest automaker, sold more than 2.27 million new cars in the United States last year, surpassing Toyota Motor Corporation, which was at the top of the list for the first time in two years.

GM and Toyota North America announced on the 4th the number of new cars sold in the United States last year.

According to this,

▽ GM increased by 3% from the previous year to over 2,274,000 units,

▽Toyota decreased by 9% from the previous year to over 2.108 million units.

GM, which has held the top position in annual new car sales in the United States for many years, fell short of Toyota for the first time two years ago, but last year it surpassed Toyota for the first time in two years.

The main factor behind this was the recovery in production at GM as the procurement situation for semiconductors improved, while automobile manufacturers continued to face production constraints due to shortages of semiconductors.

In the United States, there are concerns that the economy will slow down due to the continuing significant interest rate hikes to curb inflation, and it seems likely that the severe business environment will continue for automakers.
