In Motala municipality, almost the entire contribution was sent back.

According to social director Pernilla Thunander, this is because the municipality already has a large proportion of trained assistant nurses.

- We have worked strategically to train substitutes and are unique in Sweden with so many trained assistant nurses, says Pernilla Thunander.

Linköping returned a large part

In 2021, Linköping municipality received 47 million in grants, but sent back 67 percent.

- Partly, the pandemic meant that there was a shortage of staff, so few had the opportunity to attend the training.

And partly we had to have all the courses remotely and that doesn't work for everyone, says Annika Krutzén (M), chairwoman of the Social and Care Board in Linköping.

For 2022, the entire amount, 23.5 million, which was granted to the municipality of Linköping for the training of fixed-term employees in elderly care has been used.
