Masazumi Gotoda, a member of the House of Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, resigned on the 5th to run for the Tokushima gubernatorial election in April this year.

Mr. Masazumi Gotoda, a member of the House of Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party and elected to the Shikoku bloc of proportional representation, submitted his resignation request to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hosoda on the morning of the 5th, and was approved.



Mr. Gotoda has decided to run for the Tokushima gubernatorial election in April, and is expected to officially announce his candidacy soon.



Mr. Gotoda is 53 years old from Tokyo.

After working for a major trading company, he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2000, and is currently in his eighth term.



LDP member Toru Miki has announced his candidacy for the Tokushima gubernatorial election.

On the other hand, Governor Iizumi has not disclosed whether he will run for office so far.



With Gotoda's resignation, Ryuichi Seto is expected to be elected from the Liberal Democratic Party's list of proportional representation Shikoku bloc.
