A couple residing in Yvetot (Seine-Maritime) was the victim of a scam in early December.

They received a visit from two men posing as agents of a service provider for EDF.

They explained to them that they were moving to "update" their file in order to "block the prices so that it does not increase in 2023", tell the victims to 76 Actu.

So as not to be victims of the rise in the price of energy, the forties then agreed to entrust them with a bank account statement and an EDF invoice.

The couple then realized that the scammers had set up an automatic transfer of 14.90 euros.

They realized they had been tricked and filed a complaint.

If no other victim has been identified in the town, the gendarmerie calls for the greatest caution.

“An EDF agent will never come to you at home without having warned you”, recall the soldiers.

To avoid falling into the trap, it is recommended to ask for a professional card and to call the number of the company when in doubt.
