"For me, Thierry Henry is Belgium's next coach. There's no doubt about it," Lukaku told Sky Italia on Monday.

"Henry would be the ideal solution," Alderweireld told Belgian public television VRT on Wednesday.

At the end of December, the Belgian Federation (RBFA) had launched a call for candidates to succeed the Spaniard Roberto Martinez, whose contract had not been renewed after the elimination of the Red Devils in the first round of the World Cup.

In a classified ad, the RBFA had written that it was looking for “a + serial winner + with experience in managing top level players”.

For Lukaku and Alderweireld, the 1998 French world champion Thierry Henry fits this profile.

"He has the respect of all the players, he has won everything. He knows how to coach, he knows what we have to do to get there. He knows the team and the staff. For me, he is the ideal coach for our national team", detailed the striker of Inter Milan.

"Henry has won in his career everything you can win, added Alderweireld. Moreover, he knows the team. I understand that rejuvenation is necessary, but you also have to know where we come from. Henry would be the solution ultimate in this regard".

Romelu Lukaku is one of the three players, along with Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois, who will be consulted by the federation when choosing a new coach.

Candidates for the position of coach have until January 10 to send their application letter.

Thierry Henry, who has never spoken on the subject, is one of the most cited names with those of the Dutchman Louis van Gaal and the Belgian Michel Preud'homme.
