Vietnam.. Attempts to save a child who fell into a 35-meter-deep hole

Today, Tuesday, engineers, with the help of the Vietnamese army, are trying to save a 10-year-old boy who fell four days ago into a 35-meter-deep hole at the site of a bridge construction workshop in southern Vietnam.

Rescuers are working to separate a reinforced concrete pipe from a hole 35 meters underground, in an attempt to save the trapped child, "Tae Li Hao Nam", who has stopped interacting with aid workers and his condition is unknown.

The boy was apparently looking for scrap when he fell into a 25-centimetre-wide concrete pipe that forms one of the pillars of a new bridge in Dong Thap province, an aid worker told AFP by phone.

According to local media, rescuers tried to dig and soften the ground in an attempt to pull the prop up in order to save the child.
