The Palestinian Authority condemns the entry of an Israeli minister into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Itamar Ben Gvir

The Palestinian Authority condemned the entry, today, Tuesday, of the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem and wandering around its grounds.

"This dangerous step comes in light of the agreements on which the current, most right-wing Israeli government in the history of Israeli governments was formed," Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs Hatem al-Bakri said in a press statement.

Al-Bakri warned of "the consequences of the occupation's Judaization measures against Al-Aqsa on the stability of the entire region," blaming the Israeli government for the escalation in general, and the recent escalation in particular.

According to Palestinian and Israeli sources, Ben Gvir entered Al-Aqsa Mosque for about 15 minutes from the side of the historic Mughrabi Gate and conducted a short tour of the mosque's courtyards, amidst an intense deployment of the Israeli police.

Ben Gvir had pledged to work to legitimize Jewish prayer in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
