“During a telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev exchanged congratulations on the New Year, noting the high level of Russian-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance,” the statement says.
The leaders also discussed issues of practical cooperation in a number of topical areas, including the fuel and energy complex.
Earlier, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Yuri Sentyurin said that negotiations between Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on the creation of a gas union are ongoing.
