Since Christmas, explosions, shootings and murders have followed each other in the Stockholm area.

In some cases the motives are unclear, while in other cases it is possible to learn more about possible motives and underlying causes.

Revenge after murder

In those cases, there are two conflicts.

One is connected to the district of Hässelby in northwestern Stockholm, says SVT's reporter Diamant Salihu.

Basically, it is about the control of the drug market.

On New Year's Eve, a man was shot dead outside McDonalds in Vällingby.

He is linked to one side of the conflict.

The murder is believed to have led to an act of revenge against a person who, according to police intelligence, is connected to the other side.

Two days after the fatal shooting, an explosive device detonated in a stairwell in Grimsta.

- The person who was exposed to the bombing is a well-known artist who has a role in the grouping, as the face, says Diamant Salihu.

Unclear Einár connection

The second conflict is more difficult to dial in.

Several shootings and explosions have been directed at people who were somehow involved in – or accused of – crimes against the rap artist Einár.

But whether it is really different forms of revenge is difficult to say with certainty, Salihu emphasizes.

- The information I receive is that criminals can "take care" to attack their enemies when things are chaotic in this environment, he says.

How have arrests of gang leaders and Christmas holidays fueled the spiral of violence?
