The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the death of 63 Russian servicemen as a result of a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the point of temporary deployment of one of the units in Makeevka (DPR).

“The Kyiv regime launched a strike with six rockets of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system at the temporary deployment point of one of the units of the Russian armed forces in the area of ​​​​the settlement of Makeevka,” the official representative of the department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, said at a briefing.

He clarified that two HIMARS shells were shot down by air defense systems, but four rockets with a high-explosive warhead reached the target.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the necessary assistance and support would be provided to the relatives and friends of the victims.

The situation in the NWO zone

Konashenkov also spoke about the current situation in the special military operation zone in Ukraine.

In particular, more than 70 mercenaries were killed and over 100 wounded as a result of strikes with precision-guided weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces at the points of temporary deployment of the Foreign Legion units in the areas of the settlements of Markovo, Kramatorsk (DPR) and Novoosinovo (Kharkov region).

According to the agency, in the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched artillery strikes on the accumulations of manpower of the 103rd and 105th territorial defense brigades, as a result of which up to 30 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two armored combat vehicles and three vehicles were destroyed.

In the Krasnolimansky direction, units of the 13th and 95th air assault brigades were hit by artillery fire.

As a result, more than 40 Ukrainian servicemen, three armored personnel carriers and two pickup trucks were destroyed.

In turn, in the course of offensive actions, Russian troops occupied new profitable lines in the Donetsk direction.

The enemy lost up to 70 people, four infantry fighting vehicles and five vehicles.

Over 40 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three armored combat vehicles and two pickup trucks were destroyed in the South-Donetsk direction as a result of a complex fire engagement of enemy units.

Over the past day, missile troops and artillery of the RF Armed Forces hit 67 enemy artillery units in firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 92 districts.

On the territory of the Zaporozhye region controlled by Ukrainian troops and in the region of Dnepropetrovsk, two depots of rocket and artillery weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and two fuel storage facilities were destroyed.

During the counter-battery fight, two American M777 howitzers, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery mount and four D-30 howitzers were destroyed at firing positions.

Air defense systems shot down 15 Ukrainian drones in a day.

In addition, three rockets of the Alder and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems were intercepted.

Demining of liberated territories

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also spoke about the course of mine clearing of liberated settlements from unexploded ordnance, which is carried out by fighters of the engineering troops of the Western Military District.

According to the department, sapper units are the first to go through mine and engineering barriers, creating passages for equipment and units, ensuring the offensive of Russian troops.

During engineering reconnaissance, sappers detect and destroy both anti-tank and anti-personnel mines on the spot.

Specialists go to demining roads, household plots and farmland.

Upon arrival, they conduct engineering reconnaissance of the area, assess the situation, after which the demining team in protective suits, with modern mine detectors and engineering probes, begins to clear the area from explosive objects.

As noted in the department, sappers destroy most of the ammunition with an overhead charge.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that measures to detect and neutralize explosive devices, including booby traps, are carried out with strict observance of safety requirements.
