Jenin

- A difficult night, which extended until Monday morning hours, was experienced by the town of Kafr Dan, near the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank, after the Israeli occupation army stormed it, heavily armed with mechanisms and bulldozers, intending to demolish the home of the two martyrs Ahmed and Abdel Rahman Abed, the perpetrators of the Jalama checkpoint operation last September. in which an Israeli officer was killed.

And in the event that can be described as the most violent, the occupation imposed on Kafr Dan - and on the first day of the new year 2023 - different types of oppression and torture of the Palestinian people, killing two young men and wounding 5 others, one of whom described his wounds as critical, and demolished two homes and displaced their families, and arrested and detained dozens of citizens. .

A cold, harsh night

The events of the Kafr Dan storming began at 10:30 before midnight last night, when the occupation forces penetrated into the homes of the two martyrs in the western neighborhood after they cordoned off the village and the entire neighborhood, and raided the homes of the two martyrs and took their families out into the open in harsh weather of extreme cold, and proceeded to demolish them without prior warning of the date of demolition. .

"It was a difficult and cruel night in the full sense of the word. Kafr Dan lived it for about 12 hours," says the young man, Muhammad Abed, a relative of the martyrs, describing the event to Al-Jazeera Net, and adds that the demolition process began by destroying the walls of the inner houses, and then blowing up the entire houses.

While the Israeli forces surrounded the houses and worked to demolish them, violent confrontations took place between the occupation soldiers and the youth of the village and neighboring villages, who rushed to defend them and confront the incursion. The occupation forces fired various types of ammunition, especially live bullets, at the citizens.

Minutes after midnight, Palestinian injuries began to arrive successively at Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, to announce the death of Fouad Abed, 18, after being wounded in the stomach and thigh, and Muhammad Hoshia, 22, from the neighboring town of Al-Yamoun, who was fatally shot in the chest.

And a state of tension escalated - Abed continues - as the confrontations escalated after Palestinian resistance fighters threw homemade explosive devices (elbows), and armed clashes took place, while the occupation escalated the confrontation and began firing heavily and indiscriminately at the demonstrators.

After the martyrdom of the perpetrators of the Al-Jalama operation, the occupation forces raided their homes and took measurements without specifying a date for the demolition. Since then, their family has been living in constant anxiety and tension.

Duty martyr

And about the circumstances of Hushia’s martyrdom, his relative Iyad says that he saw him yesterday evening at a dinner feast that the father of the martyr held for one of the deceased in his village, Al-Yamoun, and he was welcoming the guests and serving them, and hours later, as soon as he heard the news of the storming of Kafr Dan, he went straight to her.

Martyr Muhammad, or “Hamouda” as he is called, is the eldest of his male siblings, and all of them are children. One sister is older than him, and due to circumstances he did not complete his university studies. He joined the labor market like other young men, and he was known for his “good character, love among people, and his religious commitment,” as Iyad says, and has always been He wished for martyrdom, "and he would reveal it publicly," otherwise he would not have traveled 7 kilometers from his hometown of al-Yamoun to the neighboring village of Kafr Dan.

On the authority of one of the young men who were near the martyr, Iyad says that he felt his injury directly, "and said to his friend, who embraced him in his arms, trying to save him: I was wounded in the chest, I am awake, I am awake," and then he died.

An hour after his injury, the news reached his family, especially his mother (Umm Muhammad), whose screams shook the hospital hall as she called out to her son, whom she had just learned was martyred, "Where has he gone?

In a scene that made those present weep, the martyr's mother began feeling her son and touching his blood with her palm, looking to call out to his father among everyone saying, "His blood is yama, where (where) did the father of (the father of) the groom go?" who began to have mercy on his son, saying, "May God have mercy on him, praise be to God."

The situation of the martyr Abed was not much different from his companion Hoshia, as he was a relative of the two martyrs Ahmed and Abd al-Rahman Abed, and he was known for his good manners and behavior in the country. He left school at an early age to work with his father as a bulldozer driver.

Single parents

The head of the Kafr Dan municipal council, Ahmed Marei, told Al-Jazeera Net that Abed, who is known as "a great affiliation to his country and his cause," was greatly affected by the martyrdom of his relatives, and he went out like the rest of the village's youth to confront the storming of the occupation soldiers, and he was martyred during the confrontations.

Abed - who is the only male of his parents - mourned his friends and relatives on his Facebook page, and published his photos before and after his martyrdom and wrote, "I asked for it and got it... God bless you."

Qusai Merhi wrote on his page, "The biography of Fouad, peace be upon those who fought at night and returned in the morning as a martyr." As for Mustafa Al-Johari, who is the uncle of the martyr Houshieh, he wrote, "May God have mercy on you, O Hamouda, and give you patience, my dear sister Kholoud. God suffices me, and He is the best disposer of affairs among them."

With the martyrdom of Abed Wahushieh, Jenin, especially the villages of Kafr Dan and Al-Yamoun, presented the first Palestinian martyrs in the new year, while Kafr Dan records the first demolition and displacement of the year 2023, which lost 5 martyrs last year, including the young Shas Kammaji, the brother of the prisoner Ayham Kammaji Ahad.
