China News Service, Xi'an, January 1 (Reporter Zhang Yichen) The opening ceremony and red carpet ceremony of the Ninth Silk Road International Film Festival was held in Xi'an on the evening of the 1st. Filmmakers, crew representatives, and industry guests from home and abroad appeared on the red carpet Blanket, to participate in the Silk Road light and shadow event.

The theme of this year's Silk Road International Film Festival is "Silk Road Connects the World, Shining Light and Shadow in Chang'an". 1,598 films from 90 countries and regions signed up for the "Golden Silk Road Award" competition, and a total of 19 films were shortlisted.

As a comprehensive international film festival, the Silk Road International Film Festival was officially established in 2014. It is held in turn by Shaanxi and Fujian provinces. It has been held eight times before.

It has effectively promoted the cultural and people-to-people bonds among countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", and provided an important platform for filmmakers from all over the world to communicate and cooperate.

"I think a good movie can impress people from different countries, different social systems, and different cultural backgrounds. Xi'an is a city where ancient traditions and modern civilizations coexist. Express your own opinions and impressions." Chinese director Diao Yinan said.

This year's Silk Road International Film Festival has seven units, including the "Golden Silk Road Award" competition unit, opening ceremony and red carpet ceremony, movie night, film screening, film forum, film power, awards ceremony and other activities.

At the same time, more than a hundred masterpieces at home and abroad have been screened in theaters and online.

Chinese actor Yan Bingyan said that the film festival is a good learning and exchange opportunity for both filmmakers and ordinary audiences.

Many "old movies" are rarely seen in cinemas now, and through the carrier of the film festival, audiences can pay tribute to classics on the big screen, which may be one of the meanings of the film festival.
