The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the death of a member of the Basij forces affiliated with the Guard, yesterday, Saturday, during protests in the city of Samiram in Isfahan province, in the center of the country.

The deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards in Isfahan said that he was killed by gunmen in clashes that broke out with what he described as rioters in the city of Samiram.

The official IRNA news agency said that several parts of the city witnessed protest movements on Saturday, and that "security forces were deployed to maintain security in the city, and in some cases confrontations were recorded with a number of rioters."

Meanwhile, the Iranian Human Rights Organization - based in Norway - reported that a person was killed during protests in the city of Janrud, in the Kurdistan Province, in western Iran.

Since last September 16, Iran has been witnessing protest movements following the death of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, after she was arrested by what is known as the Guidance Patrol in Tehran.

According to official Iranian figures, more than 200 people were killed on the sidelines of the protests, including dozens of members of the security forces.

And 11 people were sentenced to death in connection with the events, and two of them were executed.

For their part, human rights organizations outside Iran point to the killing of more than 470 protesters at the hands of the security forces, and say that about 100 people are facing charges that may carry the death penalty.
