This is more than last year, when the police handled 115 cases.

However, fewer people were arrested last night compared to last year and no serious violent crimes have occurred.

- We had a lot to do, a lot concerning rockets, fires and fireworks, but the most serious crimes have not occurred, says police spokesperson Dennis Johansson Strömberg.

Young people handled pyrotechnics

One person was arrested on New Year's Eve in the county.

It was a 15-year-old boy who allegedly fired rockets into a crowd in central Nyköping.

- He was arrested only because he could not show his identity.

When we obtained the identity, he was handed over to guardians, says Dennis Johansson Strömberg.

The person is suspected of causing danger to another, violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods and violent resistance.

According to the police, no one should have been physically injured.

The police in Katrineholm have also had to deal with several cases concerning young people who shot fireworks at crowds or handled firecrackers incorrectly.

Fires in several places in the county

It has also burned in several places in the county.

Car fires, container fires and bicycle fires are some of the things that have come to the attention of the police.

However, it has been about smaller fires.

- In addition to that, there have been a lot of messes and fights connected to the pub environment and the alcohol.

We have dealt with several cases of fighting and assault, but no one should have suffered serious physical injuries in connection with the events, says Dennis Johansson Strömberg.
