In Senegal, in the traditional speech to the Nation on the occasion of the New Year, the Head of State took stock of the actions of his government in this year 2022 marked by a difficult economic situation.

A “social year” declared Macky Sall, emphasizing the subsidies and measures taken in favor of purchasing power.

For its part, the main opposition coalition,

”.

In this speech of about thirty minutes, Macky Sall did not remove the vagueness on his intentions for the presidential election of 2024. But in a tense political climate, the head of state mentioned

the "legacy

" of a “

nation united in its diversity, peaceful and stable

”: “

No one should imagine themselves bigger or stronger than this nation which shelters us all.

We are because Senegal is

”.

At the same time as the head of state's speech, the opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wi - led among others by Ousmane Sonko and Khalifa Sall - therefore called for noise to protest against the regime.
