China News Service, January 1 (Xinhua) according to comprehensive US media reports, on December 31, 2022 local time, there was a sudden heavy rain in California, the United States that day, and many places urgently issued evacuation orders.

The San Francisco area received as much as 5.45 inches (138.43 mm) of rainfall, approaching the highest rainfall record of 5.54 inches in nearly 30 years.

  According to the US "Newsweek" report, the atmospheric river storm from Hawaii, also known as the "Pineapple Express (Pineapple Express)" entrained a lot of moisture, bringing heavy rain, heavy snow and high winds to Northern California.

  The San Francisco Fire Department announced on social media Twitter that all lanes of the 101 Freeway in the California Bay Area were closed due to "extreme road flooding."

A short 8-second video shared by Twitter user Doug Lawrence showed multiple cars parked in heavy rain, some of which had been flooded.

  The San Francisco Fire Department said there were no casualties so far, but "dozens" of areas were affected and "dozens" of vehicles were trapped by the floodwaters.

Authorities are currently working to free the trapped vehicle from the highway.

  According to a report by San Francisco TV station KRON4, as of 6:00 pm on December 31, 2022, nearly 30,000 users in the San Francisco Bay Area have lost power.
