On Saturday, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on forming his government, expressing his aspiration to strengthen relations between the two countries during the coming period, according to a statement issued by Netanyahu's office.

The statement added that the Emirati president called, in a phone call, on Netanyahu and his wife to pay an official visit to the UAE, and indicated that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Netanyahu agreed that the visit would take place soon.

The official UAE news agency also reported that "Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during a phone call, congratulated Benjamin Netanyahu on his assumption of the presidency of the new Israeli government."

The agency said that during the call, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed "expressed his aspiration to strengthen Emirati-Israeli relations during the coming period, especially in the development fields and to advance the path of partnership and peace between the two countries forward for the benefit of their peoples and the region in general," according to what was reported by the Anadolu Agency.

Last Thursday, Netanyahu's government was sworn in before parliament, becoming prime minister of Israel for the sixth time.

It is noteworthy that former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited the United Arab Emirates in June last year, at the invitation of its President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

In 2020, Israel and the UAE announced the normalization of relations between them.
