According to tradition, the new year was celebrated at Skansen and SVT broadcasts directly from the festivities under the direction of David Sundin.
The actor Lena Olin had the honorable task of ringing in the new year and reading Lord Alfred Tennyson's poem "The New Year's Bell" at twelve o'clock.
"I have heard the 'New Year's Bell' recited at twelve o'clock since I was a little girl, a fantastic tradition!
To now have the honor of conveying this text myself makes me so deeply happy.
And proud.”, Olin said in a press release when she received the assignment.
