The Spanish pilot Luis Sevillano Moreno died this Saturday during the extinction of a fire in southern Chile, the Chilean government reported.

The Ministry of Agriculture explained in a statement that the 34-year-old aviator died when the aircraft he piloted overturned after discharging water in Galvarino, in the La Araucanía region, 750 kilometers south of the capital.

In his account on social networks, Infoca, the Andalusian Forest Fire Extinction Operational Service, points out that Luis Sevillano "was a pilot of the ACOA8 coordination plane positioned in Seville and now cargo planes on the ground. His father piloted the

of the Brica de Granada".

Currently, the deceased provided services through the company SAAMA Aviación SpA for the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), the Chilean ministry indicated.

"As the Ministry of Agriculture, we extend our condolences to the family of the pilot, who becomes part of the legacy of the CONAF martyrs, who have given their lives to protect the environmental heritage and the lives of all Chilean men and women", added the statement.

The fire in Quetre, in the Galvarino commune, has already destroyed at least 350 hectares, according to Conaf.
