- The receiving municipality must make sure to coordinate support efforts for the dropout, but it is the home municipality that investigates, approves and follows up the efforts, says Elin Månsson, coordinator for dropout activities in the city of Stockholm.

Pilot project

The pilot project is to be tested over a period of one year.

Initially, it is small-scale – just one person from each municipality.

After that, evaluation must be done.

If the project turns out well, the idea is to scale up so that more individuals who have a threat image or a need for protection and want to leave criminal groups or a criminal environment will be able to participate.

- The police authority in both the home municipality and the receiving municipality will be involved in order to avoid that the problems that the individual leaves follow straight into the new city, says Elin Månsson.
