Everyone is on the way home with ease

In February 2022, the situation in Ukraine changed suddenly, and the situation of the overseas Chinese in Ukraine affected people's hearts.

At first, overseas Chinese in Uzbekistan and international students helped each other, spontaneously formed online group chats, and exchanged information about the situation in various parts of Uzbekistan, seeking help, and evacuating.

Subsequently, most of the overseas Chinese gradually withdrew westward, via neighboring countries of Ukraine.

Trekking all the way across the border, what awaited them were the staff of the Chinese embassy and overseas Chinese volunteers who came to help spontaneously.

In Poland, the local Chinese Chamber of Commerce set up several "border service departments" in border cities to pick up and drop off overseas Chinese from Uzbekistan and provide life assistance; The volunteers not only provided board and lodging, but also drove to Hungary to buy supplies to appease the evacuees; in Hungary, local Chinese medicine practitioners provided medical consultation and treatment for the students studying abroad who had been exhausted by traveling and traveling, and accompanied the children back to China with medicines and chartered flights.

Some overseas Chinese from Uzbekistan said frankly that although the journey back home was hard, they would always receive warmth and touch from their compatriots wherever they went. There was almost never a shortage of food, drinks, daily necessities, and cold-proof clothing.

When the evacuation charter flight landed in China, they couldn't help but sigh: "It feels so good to go home!"

Work together to fight the epidemic

In 2022, the new crown epidemic spread by the Omicron mutant strain will be fierce.

At the beginning of the year, Hong Kong, China encountered the fifth round of the new crown epidemic. People from the overseas Chinese community in many places initiated initiatives to raise funds and materials from home and abroad to send to Hong Kong, and even went to the front line to help Hong Kong.

Under the huge waves, a group of young people named "Overseas Chinese Youth Volunteer Commando" were active in the Hong Kong community, donating supplies to neighbors.

In the "epidemic" of the Shanghai war in the first half of the year, the overseas Chinese in Shanghai responded quickly and stepped forward.

Provide living supplies for colleges and universities under closed-loop management, coordinate the delivery of epidemic prevention supplies to the front line, distribute love dishes to needy residents in the old city, and provide online psychological counseling services... Although the work and business operations of many overseas Chinese have also been affected, they said " Help others if you can.”

In Fuzhou, the hometown of overseas Chinese, the figure of overseas Chinese helping to fight the epidemic has been busy all year.

Overseas folks, overseas Chinese in Rongrong, and family members of returned overseas Chinese have drawn up support lines connecting home and abroad, weaving support networks to support their hometowns; in Liaoning, overseas Chinese business enterprises have become an important force in the fight against the epidemic, Shenyang, Yingkou, Overseas Chinese enterprises in Liaoyang, Tieling, Jinzhou and other places responded to the call, relying on their advantages in production and transportation, to make up for the "reserve food and grass" for front-line medical staff and to serve as the "backup of overseas Chinese" in the fight against the epidemic.

Together in the same boat through the storm

In 2022, natural disasters and emergencies are still uninvited guests disrupting people's lives.

In July, a strong earthquake hit Luzon Island in the Philippines.

In the aftershock, when the overseas Chinese confirmed the safety of their relatives and friends, they did not forget to contact the overseas Chinese organizations to make preparations in advance to help the affected overseas Chinese.

In August, South Korea's capital circle was hit by heavy rain, and the lives of about 300,000 overseas Chinese were temporarily or continuously affected.

Overseas Chinese groups and overseas Chinese reported their safety to each other in a timely manner, were ready to assist at any time, and continued to pay attention to the reconstruction of the lives of compatriots in difficulty.

Pakistan has been battered by floods this summer.

The overseas Chinese in Pakistan formed a volunteer team to overcome their own inconvenience, work together to participate in the rescue of the local disaster-stricken people, and support the reconstruction of the disaster-stricken area.

In December, a hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, where Chinese citizens were staying was attacked by militants.

When the danger came, the compatriots in the hotel immediately reminded each other to avoid and tried to rescue the injured compatriots.

Overseas Chinese in Afghanistan also quickly contacted the staff in the hotel to provide assistance as much as possible.

The accident caught people off guard, but the compatriots from other places are heartwarming and reliable.

No matter how the world changes, overseas Chinese who share the same spirit will, as always, move forward hand in hand.
