For the new year, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided that he will not send his wishes of success to American Presidents Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“These counterparts send us no wishes.

And given the unfriendly acts they constantly undertake, the president will not send them greetings,” Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian presidency, said on Friday.

Conversely, Vladimir Putin has already sent his New Year's wishes to several leaders close to or allied to the Kremlin.

According to a list released by the Russian presidency, the Russian leader congratulated the Chinese presidents Xi Jinping, Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Syrian Bashar al-Assad, Venezuelan Nicolas Maduro, as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Russian president also sent his wishes to two former Western leaders: the Italian Silvio Berlusconi and the German Gerhard Schröder.
