“The backup 330 kV transmission line leading to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP)… was disconnected late last night due to damage caused by shelling,” the statement said.

The IAEA added that work to restore the line has already started.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin said that the consequences of Kyiv's actions in relation to the ZNPP could be catastrophic.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also reported that Russia trusts the expertise and knowledge of the IAEA in matters related to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
