It was on November 13 that four students were found brutally stabbed to death in their home in Moscow, Idaho, USA.

The murder investigation has appeared to be at a standstill, no murder weapon has been found and there are also no witnesses to the incident.

But after almost seven weeks, the police have now found a suspected perpetrator.

The 28-year-old man was arrested in the state of Pennsylvania on Thursday evening, Reuters reports.

The man is a PhD student in the criminology department at Washington State University.

Prosecutor Bill Thompson says at a press conference on Friday evening Swedish time that the man is charged with murder in four cases, and also aggravated burglary.

On January 3, a court hearing on extradition to Idaho will take place.

At the police press conference, the question was asked if they are looking for additional suspected perpetrators.

- We have a person in custody who has committed these heinous crimes, and I believe our community is safe, replied James Fry, the police chief of Moscow.

Relatives asked for caution on social media

On Tiktok, videos under the hashtag “Idaho Murder Mystery” have over a hundred million views where people get involved in the case.

At the same time, there has been a lot of rumor spreading and incorrect information about the case, something that has led to relatives asking the public to think before sharing things and the police have also warned that you could be prosecuted if you deliberately spread incorrect information.
