BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Reuters) - NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has called on NATO members to provide Ukraine with more weapons, Reuters reported.

"It's in all of our security interests to call on our allies to do more to make sure Ukraine wins and Putin doesn't win," Stoltenberg said.

Stoltenberg said it might be more important for Ukraine to get enough ammunition for existing systems, adding that Ukraine's need for ammunition and spare parts was "huge."

In addition, he also said that military support for Ukraine is the fastest path to peace.

"We know that most wars end at the negotiating table, and probably this conflict will. But what Ukraine can achieve in the negotiations depends a lot on the military situation," Stoltenberg said.

Earlier, in his speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the West to provide more weapons and air defense systems to help fight Russia.

Last week, the United States announced nearly $2 billion in additional military aid for Ukraine, including the Patriot air defense system, which protects against drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.
