Chinanews.com, December 30. According to the official WeChat message of the Information Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense, Tan Kefei, the spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, said in an answer to a reporter's question that the sale of arms by the United States to Taiwan is a serious violation of the one-China principle and the three Sino-US alliances. The communiqué, especially the "August 17" communiqué, stated that China is strongly dissatisfied with this and will resolutely counter it.

A reporter asked: The US Department of Defense said recently that the US State Department has approved the sale of an anti-tank mine-laying system worth about US$180 million to Taiwan.

Do you have any comments on this?

Tan Kefei said that we have always firmly opposed the sale of arms by the United States to China's Taiwan region.

The U.S. move seriously violated the one-China principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués, especially the "August 17" communiqué, harmed China's sovereignty and security interests, fueled the arrogance of "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and undermined peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. Strong dissatisfaction will be resolutely countered.

Tan Kefei said that the United States' attempt to contain China's development and obstruct China's reunification by playing the "Taiwan card" is completely wishful thinking.

We urge the US to stop arms sales to Taiwan and US-Taiwan military ties, stop creating new tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and stop sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
