China News Agency, Jakarta, December 30 (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) Indonesian President Widodo announced at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on the 30th that according to the country's new crown epidemic data, the prevention and control measures of "social activity restrictions" will be lifted nationwide from now on.

On the same day, the country reported 685 new confirmed cases of new coronavirus infection, with a total of 6,719,327 confirmed cases; 10 new deaths, with a total of 160,593 deaths.

After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the Indonesian government dynamically implemented the prevention and control measures of "social activity restrictions" from one to four levels according to the changes of the epidemic situation by order of the Minister of the Interior. Each level of restrictions has corresponding prevention and control measures.

Some time ago, all parts of the country were in the lowest level of social activity restrictions.

After the cancellation of the "social activity restriction" prevention and control measures, Indonesia has no other requirements for the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic except that masks must still be worn indoors.

After Joko announced the lifting of the prevention and control restrictions that day, he emphasized that the new crown epidemic has not yet completely ended, and the government has not withdrawn the health emergency.

He asked people to still wear masks indoors.

Indonesian Interior Minister Dito said on the same occasion that the lifting of restrictions on social activities is based on the ease of the new crown epidemic.

He emphasized that once the new crown epidemic rebounds, the possibility of re-imposing restrictions on social activities cannot be ruled out.

Dito said that the government will continue to vaccinate against the new crown, especially for vulnerable groups.

On the same day, Indonesian Minister of Health Sadikin stated that the government will no longer implement mandatory new coronavirus tests including antigens and nucleic acids.

He hopes that the public will develop self-awareness and be able to conduct antigen or nucleic acid tests by themselves when they find symptoms of new crown infection.

The Acting Governor of Jakarta Province, Helu, suggested that people must wear masks in crowded places when participating in New Year's Eve celebrations.

Earlier, the provincial government announced that on the evening of the 31st, large-scale New Year's Eve celebrations would be held at 6 locations in downtown Jakarta.

This traditional New Year's Eve celebration has been suspended for two years since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic.
