Thirty municipalities in the North of France received an unexpected Christmas present.

A mysterious donor gave a total of 12,000 euros to several mayors, with the only indication of donating them to the Telethon.

A gesture of generosity that made the buzz in France, while the association welcomed the approach.

A happy mystery invites itself to the North of France.

Thirty mayors received money in cash... without knowing the sender.

At the town hall of Bavinchove, a municipality of 950 inhabitants, such a thing has never happened.

A letter in which is 400 euros in several denominations and a single requirement: that the sum be entirely donated to the Telethon.

"My secretary tells me that we had a letter with a surprise in it," says Mayor Serge Laconte.

"I said to myself, a surprise? It happens that we sometimes have anonymous letters. This one, it was just as anonymous, but with cash in it, it's quite exceptional."

A track in the North of France

Like him, about thirty other mayors within a perimeter of 70 kilometers received mysterious donations for a total amount of 12,000 euros.

Unable to locate the donor.

But the mayor of Bavinchove has his own idea.

"Given the somewhat hesitant handwriting, it could be either an elderly person or someone who has a bit of a problem writing."

On the envelopes is the number of a sorting center located in Lesquin, in the North.

But that's not enough for the Telethon team, who would like to know the mysterious donor to thank him and show him around his laboratory.
