Kabuso, the Shiba inu who inspired the "Doge" meme, is seriously ill.

The 17-year-old dog has an inflamed gallbladder and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, her owner announced on social media on Wednesday.

The Japanese had already indicated that Kabuso was sick a few days before, reports HuffPost.

"At the moment, the level of the liver is very bad and jaundice appears," she said on Wednesday.

“Kabosu has an appetite.

She can also drink water.

To anyone who cares, thank you very much.

Lots of online support

Kabuso became an internet celebrity in 2010 when her mistress posted several photos of her on her blog.

Her semi-questioning, semi-worried air on one of the pictures quickly became a meme and the dog was then baptized “Doge” (childish spelling of “dog”).

The Shiba inu even inspired a new cryptocurrency called “Dogecoin”.

Created by two people as a joke, this currency has finally found its way into the virtual economy, thanks in particular to the highly publicized support of Elon Musk.

Kabuso's state of health greatly moved internet users, many of whom shared messages of support for her and her mistress.

One of the creators of "Dogecoin" relayed the information on Twitter, asking his followers to send him "love, prayers and positive energy".
