8:12 a.m .: Ukraine denounces “massive” Russian missile strikes
Ukraine was targeted by a fresh salvo of Russian missiles this morning as explosions were heard in several towns after gunfire from Ukraine's anti-aircraft defense system, Ukrainian authorities said.
More than 100 missiles targeted Ukraine in several waves and anti-aircraft sirens were heard across the country, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, Oleksi Arestovych, wrote on Facebook.
Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Odessa, according to a Reuters correspondent and local media.
Power cuts have been announced in the Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, in order to minimize potential damage to strategic infrastructure.
